Care Guide

Proper care helps preserve the appearance, comfort, and service life of Toneloom furniture, lighting, and home décor.

Because materials and finishes may vary by product, always follow any product-specific care instructions provided on the product page, packaging, or care label.

Before using any cleaner, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.

1. General Care

• Keep furniture away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture.

• Wipe spills promptly with a soft, undyed cloth.

• Avoid abrasive cleaners, stiff brushes, harsh chemicals, ammonia, bleach, and silicone-based products.

• Use coasters, placemats, trivets, and protective pads where appropriate.

• Lift furniture when moving it. Do not drag it across the floor.

• Do not place excessive weight on decorative, woven, or non-load-bearing components.

• Use professional cleaning services when deep cleaning is required.

Natural wood, stone, leather, metal, and handcrafted finishes may change in color or appearance over time. These natural changes are not necessarily product defects.

2. Upholstered Furniture

Routine Care

• Vacuum regularly using a soft upholstery attachment.

• Rotate and fluff cushions and pillows to promote even wear.

• Keep upholstery away from direct sunlight, heat, and damp conditions.

• Remove light pilling carefully with a fabric shaver.

• Do not unzip or machine-wash covers unless the product instructions specifically allow it.

Spot Cleaning

• Blot spills immediately. Do not rub.

• Work from the outside of the stain toward the center.

• Use a soft, white or undyed cloth.

• Apply only a small amount of mild cleaning solution.

• Avoid oversaturating the fabric.

• Allow the area to air-dry completely.

For large stains or deep cleaning, use a qualified professional upholstery cleaner.

3. Performance Fabrics

• Blot spills promptly with a clean, absorbent cloth.

• For mild stains, use a small amount of clear, mild detergent mixed with water.

• Gently blot or use a soft brush where appropriate.

• Remove soap residue with clean water.

• Allow the fabric to air-dry completely.

• Avoid heat drying, aggressive scrubbing, and harsh stain removers.

Performance fabric improves stain resistance but is not completely stain-proof.

4. Leather and Faux Leather

Natural Leather

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth.

• For light cleaning, use a slightly damp, undyed cloth with distilled water.

• Blot spills immediately and do not scrub.

• Use only cleaners and conditioners intended for the specific leather type.

• Avoid solvents, alcohol, ammonia, wax, silicone, and household cleaning sprays.

• Do not apply standard leather cleaner to suede, nubuck, or napped leather.

Natural leather may develop wrinkles, creases, tonal variation, and patina with use.

Faux Leather

• Wipe with a soft cloth and mild soap solution.

• Remove soap residue and dry promptly.

• Do not saturate the surface.

• Do not apply leather conditioner, oil, wax, or solvent-based cleaner.

5. Wood Furniture

• Dust regularly with a soft, dry, undyed cloth.

• Clean sealed surfaces with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap when necessary.

• Dry the surface immediately after cleaning.

• Wipe spills promptly.

• Use coasters, placemats, and heat-resistant pads.

• Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia, silicone, and excessive furniture polish.

• Keep wood away from prolonged sunlight, heating vents, fireplaces, and damp areas.

• Do not place hot, wet, or sharp objects directly on the surface.

Natural wood may expand, contract, develop small checks, or change tone in response to humidity and temperature.

Reclaimed and Aged Wood

• Dust gently and regularly.

• Avoid excess water.

• Use wax only when appropriate for the specific finish.

• Apply wax in the direction of the grain and buff gently.

• Do not attempt to remove intentional distressing, cracks, knots, or patina.

Hand-Painted and Specialty Finishes

• Dust lightly with a soft cloth.

• Avoid strong cleaners and excessive rubbing.

• Do not use wax unless recommended for the specific finish.

• Clean spills immediately to help prevent staining or finish damage.

6. Rattan, Cane, and Wicker

• Dust regularly with a soft brush or vacuum using low suction.

• Spot clean with a slightly damp cloth.

• Dry promptly and avoid soaking.

• Keep woven materials away from prolonged moisture and intense direct sunlight.

• Do not stand, sit, or place heavy objects on decorative woven surfaces.

• Avoid pulling loose fibers.

Natural woven materials may show slight variation in color, spacing, and texture.

7. Metal

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth.

• Wipe spills immediately.

• Use mild soap and water only when necessary, then dry thoroughly.

• Avoid abrasive pads, acidic cleaners, ammonia, bleach, and silicone.

• Use protective pads to prevent scratches and heat marks.

• Keep metal dry to reduce the risk of corrosion or finish deterioration.

Natural patina, oxidation, and finish changes may occur over time, especially in humid or coastal environments.

8. Stone and Marble

• Wipe spills immediately.

• Clean with mild soap and water using a soft cloth.

• Dry the surface thoroughly.

• Use only cleaners approved for natural stone.

• Avoid vinegar, lemon, acidic products, bleach, and abrasive cleaners.

• Always use coasters, trivets, and placemats.

• Do not place hot cookware directly on stone surfaces.

Natural stone may contain veins, pores, fissures, mineral markings, and color differences. These are inherent material characteristics.

9. Glass and Mirrors

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth.

• Apply glass cleaner to the cloth rather than directly onto the product.

• Wipe gently and dry with a lint-free cloth.

• Avoid abrasive pads and rough paper products.

• Prevent cleaner from entering frames, joints, electrical components, or backing materials.

• Do not apply excessive pressure to mirror or glass surfaces.

10. Lighting

Before cleaning a lighting fixture:

• Turn off the power.

• Allow bulbs and fixture components to cool completely.

• Use a stable ladder and appropriate safety precautions.

• Follow the fixture’s installation and maintenance instructions.

For routine care:

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster.

• Clean glass or crystal components with a lightly damp cloth.

• Apply cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying the fixture directly.

• Keep moisture away from sockets, wires, drivers, and electrical connections.

• Do not use abrasives or harsh chemicals on metal finishes.

• Do not rotate, pull, or bend fixture components unnecessarily.

Electrical repair, rewiring, and fixture removal should be completed by a qualified professional.

11. Outdoor Furniture

• Cover or store outdoor furniture when not in use.

• Keep cushions dry and store them in a ventilated location.

• Clean and dry furniture before covering it.

• Do not allow water to collect under covers.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to severe weather, freezing conditions, salt air, or standing water.

• Secure or store umbrellas during high winds.

• Follow product-specific instructions for teak, wicker, metal, stone, and outdoor fabrics.

Natural weathering, fading, teak graying, patina, and minor finish changes may occur with outdoor use.

12. Fragile Décor and Accessories

• Handle glass, ceramic, stone, and decorative objects carefully.

• Dust with a soft, dry cloth.

• Use mild soap and water only when suitable for the material.

• Avoid soaking decorative items unless specifically approved.

• Support the entire item when lifting it.

• Do not lift a product by decorative handles, trim, or delicate components.

13. Candles and Open Flames

• Trim candle wicks to approximately 0.25 inch before use.

• Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

• Keep candles away from furniture, curtains, upholstery, and flammable materials.

• Never leave a burning candle unattended.

• Keep candles away from children, pets, drafts, and ventilation outlets.

• Allow candles and containers to cool before handling.

14. Professional Care and Repairs

Do not attempt structural, electrical, upholstery, stone, or finish repairs without appropriate experience.

Unauthorized repair, modification, refinishing, or installation may damage the product and affect warranty eligibility.
